01 — About
Audiobubble is the alter-ego of composer Mark Bowler.
I started making breaks-y IDM as Audiobubble in 2004, and the sound has only gotten harder and stranger since. I love a good 4x4 kick. Pair that with big bass, a smattering of breakbeat and the odd grime or rap bar and you're getting close to the Audiobubble sound. There's a clear London accent in there, even though the music now comes from the mean streets of rural Bedfordshire. My live sets might pass through speedbass and hardcore via folk bangers, breakcore, electro house and drum and bass. Whatever the room asks for.
I've got releases out on Endor Recordings, Mint Bangers and my own One Glass Eye Records. Dave Skywalker and I have been prolific collaborators, starting when I won the Ravepool remix competition for his track Pandora. Off the back of that we did Party Hunt on One Glass Eye, then the Rugged & Ruthless EP on Endor. I've been involved with Ravepool since its earliest days and hosted Episode 6 of the podcast. My music appears on almost every RemixEverything album.
In a parallel life I write contemporary classical music (GSMD, Britten Sinfonia, EXAUDI, Ligeti Quartet). That side feeds Audiobubble as texture, large-scale structure and stylistic counterpoint. All good fodder for the rave.
